Background

Hometown: Völnhyr (Vuhl-neer)
First Memory: Skadi's first memory is of running through the snow-covered forest with her siblings, their paws beating against the frozen ground as they chased the wind. The cold air stung her face, but she felt free and at home in the wild, her wolf form bounding through the trees with effortless grace.
Most important childhood event that still affects her: The arrival of the mage in Völnhyr and the moment they locked eyes. It was as if something deep within her stirred, a connection that was undeniable. That moment changed the course of her life. Though she had always felt a sense of being apart from her family, this bond with the mage gave her a new sense of purpose and identity. She still reflects on how she had to leave the pack behind, which remains a bittersweet memory.
Education: Skadi was taught by her parents to be a skilled familiar, understanding the ways of magic, loyalty, and protection. While her parents focused on survival and the wolf-shifting traditions, she also learned how to sense the needs of her mage, anticipating his every move and need. Her education was rooted in practical skills, like tracking and survival, alongside the mystical bond that formed between a familiar and their mage.
Religion: Skadi follows a simple, personal faith shaped by respect for the land and the traditions of her people. While not tied to a formal church, she and her family believe in the power of prayer and the strength found in moments of quiet reflection, especially during difficult times. Her faith is centered on the idea that the land and the spirits of the tundra are gifts, and that one should be thankful for them, offering prayers for guidance and protection when needed. It's a faith that acknowledges God abve all.
Why? : For Skadi, faith is more about respect for the life around her and finding inner strength rather than following strict traditions. Prayer is something her family uses to seek comfort in the harsh winters, to ask for protection on hunts, and to reflect on their place in the world. It’s a quiet faith, woven into daily life, but it’s not a central force in her identity.
Finances: Skadi lived a simple life as part of her pack on the outskirts of Völnhyr, never needing wealth. Her family lived off the land, hunting and foraging, sharing what they had within their pack and with the village when necessary. She never knew what it meant to have a great deal of material wealth, but they were content in their modesty, valuing family and survival over riches.

Attitude

Most at ease when: In the wild, running through the tundra in wolf form, or spending time with her family. She feels most herself when surrounded by nature, where things are simple and straightforward.
Ill at ease when: In large crowds or social situations that feel forced, especially when there’s too much focus on appearances or rules. She dislikes being confined or restricted by expectations.
Priorities: family, loyalty, and finding a purpose beyond what she’s been taught. She seeks to honor her bond with the mage while still holding on to her roots in the wild.
Philosophy: Skadi believes in balance—living in harmony with the land, being true to herself, and understanding that sacrifice often comes with growth. She values loyalty but also freedom to choose her own path.
How s/he feels about self: Skadi struggles with identity. She is proud of her strength, but she sometimes feels torn between her wolf heritage and her new life as a familiar. She feels a bit disconnected from her past but is driven to find her true purpose.
If granted one wish what would it be: To feel truly at home, whether that means finding peace with her family or finally embracing the connection she has with the mage.
