Background

Hometown: Ashwood Vale
Ashwood Vale is a secluded village nestled in the shadow of tall, misty mountains. The village is known for its rich history of artisans, particularly those skilled in carving, crafting, and tattooing. Tattoos hold great cultural significance, used as symbols of identity, protection, and accomplishment. The people there are quiet and self-reliant, but there’s a constant undercurrent of superstition and curiosity about the world beyond their borders.
First Memory: Riven’s first memory is the day her father sat her down and showed her the basic principles of creating tattoos, showing her his arms covered in them. Pointing out the meaning of each one.
Most important childhood event that still affects her: Her mother's absence after she turned 11; her mother often traveled as a healer and would come back and tell amazing stories of the outside world. Riven’s father disapproved of his wife’s activities, but divorce wasn't allowed in Ashwood Vale. They had fallen in love young, before her mother found her love of healing and herbs. After that, it seemed they both lost her.
Education: Riven was educated in Ashwood Vale. Their school taught history and tradition, and her father taught her how to tattoo. He was the most revered in the village, and other travelers came to him for designs and ink. Riven always felt it was impossible to live up to his legend.
Religion: Christian
Why? : While the village holds deep in tradition, Rivens father always taught her about a one true God. Though she believes him, she's never put much of her mind or thoughts towards it.
Finances: Well off, her father makes good money with his tattoos and has been able to provide for Riven and himself well.

Attitude

Most at ease when: Designing and tattooing, she tends to get deep into her work and loves the artistic freedom. Also generally comfortable in a party with friends.
Ill at ease when: At odds with her family; her connection to them is deep and personal, and she hates when they are at odds or she's not living up to what they expect of her.
Priorities: Her priorities are to be a good tattoo artist, as good as her father, and to even travel and tattoo around the world. Her family would like her to settle down with a man and have children, especially now that she's 25.
Philosophy: Roots can hold you, but they need not bind you.
How s/he feels about self: Her confliction between honor to her family traditions and her longing to travel and share her art is her biggest stress in life. She wants nothing more than to love her family, but not if that means settling down and having babies with someone she does not love.
If granted one wish what would it be: To be free of her inner turmoil, if only her family could support her inner desire to leave and share her art, find love outside her village where everyone wanted to marry her to gain into her family.
